The up to 100 million gallon-per-year ethanol plant, to be located in the South, uses wood and wood waste from the state’s pine forests and mills as feedstock.
The company was also just tapped by ZeaChem to build its first biorefinery. The refinery is for a cellulose-based platform capable of producing third-generation ethanol fuel and intermediate chemicals, while increasing output and reducing both production costs and environmental impacts.

In the Rocky Mountain West, CH2M HILL is working to support the design and start-up of a pilot biobutanol facility. The program is designed prove and refine the technology and is expected to scale up to a demonstration plant within the next 24 months.
